February 9, 2001 * Education [to Apr 2008]Education Minister Jeffrey E. Lantz said he is proud to acknowledge National Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week on Prince Edward Island February 11-17. "This week gives all of us an opportunity to show our appreciation to the many teachers and support staff who work in our Island schools," said Minister Lantz. "Our teachers and staff are committed to delivering the best possible education to students. Not only do they do this in the classroom, but also as volunteers with extra-curricular activities." Minister Lantz said the Government of Prince Edward Island recognizes that in addition to instilling a love of lifelong learning in their students, teachers are also committed to lifelong learning. They participate in professional development programs during the school year and also further their education during weekend and summer courses and institutes. "Our teachers and support staff are working with communities to help ensure Island students receive the best education and learning opportunities."
