RCMP, municipal police, fire and other emergency personnel are playing a key role in public safety during this busy period of festivals, concerts and events says Justice and Public Safety Minister Doug Currie.
“I commend police and all other emergency officials for their active support and assistance during the many entertainment events that have attracted such large audiences across the province,” said Minister Currie. “Their collaborative involvement in the early stages of planning has contributed to the overall success of the events and the safety of all involved.”
High traffic events such as Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Charlottetown Summerfest with Cirque du Soleil, Live with Regis and Kelly, and Old Home Week keep police and emergency support teams busy. Police have been working closely with organizers for many months prior to and during the events to ensure all aspects of public safety are considered.
Minister Currie specifically acknowledges front-line law enforcement and emergency officers for their efforts to manage the increased traffic, ensure the safety of participants, and address the interests and concerns of area residents.
“Police, fire and emergency personnel have been very successful in their efforts to ensure the safety of Islanders and visitors alike,” said Minister Currie. “I want to thank them for a job well done and wish them continued success with the remaining events of the season.”
Old Home Week is now in full swing in Charlottetown. Other festivals and events will continue throughout the summer and into the shoulder season in communities all across the province.
