Millennium Project To Capture The Thoughts Of Islanders - The 2050 Book Will Record Advice For Future Generations

Premier's Office
Premier Pat Binns today announced a year-long Island-wide project of the Provincial Millennium Committee – The 2050 Book – a signature book with a difference. Islanders will have the opportunity to write "Advice to Islanders Halfway to the Next Century!" beside their name and community.

Following the Premier's New Year's Levee, the book will travel across the province and will be available for signing at all 13 credit unions in Prince Edward Island. On December 31, 2000 the pages will be assembled into "The 2050 Book – Advice to Islanders Halfway to the Next Century!" and will be embedded in a time capsule to be opened 50 years from now.

Premier Binns said, "Islanders have always been very forthright in their comments about the Island, about issues that are important to them, or their community. I believe it is a wonderful opportunity for today's generation to give future generations helpful advice."

Islanders and visitors can also leave their comments on the provincial government Web site.
