Milk Prices To Rise

* Agriculture and Forestry [to Oct 2003]
The minimum wholesale and home delivery prices for drinking milk products, including homogenized milk, partly skimmed 2%, 1% milk, and skim milk will increase on February 1 by four cents a litre. The announcement was made today by Kenny MacLellan, Chair of the Prince Edward Island Marketing Council.

Three cents of the increase will go to producers. "The increase in prices was made to reflect increased costs that producers and processors face in providing a high quality product to consumers," said Mr. MacLellan.

The full schedule of prices has been published in the Royal Gazette. Retail prices for milk may vary from store to store as the Council does not establish prices at the retail level.
