October 15, 2001 * Agriculture and Forestry [to Oct 2003]Exton MacPherson, Oyster Bed Bridge, has been elected to represent the Charlottetown district on the Prince Edward Island Milk Marketing Board. Charles Coles, Returning Officer reported that Mr. MacPherson was elected following the ballot count on October 10, 2001. The deadline for the return of the ballots was September 30. William J. DeHaan and Exton MacPherson contested the Charlottetown position. Sixty-six valid ballots were counted from the 125 registered producers of this district. Mr. MacPherson having the majority of votes, was declared elected. Mr. MacPherson will be joined on the Milk Marketing Board by Harold MacNevin who was elected by acclamation to represent the O'Leary district and Brian Dingwell who was elected by acclamation to represent the Souris district. The Prince Edward Island Milk Marketing Board consists of nine members with eight members representing the milk sector and one member representing the cream sector. Members are elected on a staggered basis to three-year terms so that in each year, three Board positions are up for election.Media Contact: Charles Coles
