Milk Board Election Results

Ian McIsaac, Mermaid has been elected to represent the Charlottetown district on the Prince Edward Island Milk Marketing Board. Charles Coles, Returning Officer reported that Mr. McIsaac was elected following the ballot count of October 7, 1999. The deadline for the return of the ballots was September 30.

Ian McIsaac and John McCaughey contested the Charlottetown position. Eighty-two valid ballots were counted from the 149 registered producers of this district. Mr. McIsaac having the majority of votes, was declared elected.

McIsaac will be joined on the Milk Board by Randall Affleck who was elected by acclamation to represent the Summerside district and Gary Hughes who was elected by acclamation to represent the cream sector.

The Prince Edward Island Milk Marketing Board consists of nine members, with eight members representing the milk sector and one member representing the cream sector. Members are elected on a staggered basis to three-year terms so that in each year, three Board positions are up for election.
