Harold MacNevin, West Devon, has been elected to represent the West Prince district on the Prince Edward Island Milk Marketing Board. Robert Morrison, Returning Officer, reported that Mr. MacNevin was elected following the ballot count of October 9, 1998. The deadline for the return of the ballots was September 30.
Harold MacNevin and Ivan Wallace contested the West Prince position. Thirty-eight valid ballots were counted from the 54 registered producers of this district. Mr. MacNevin, having the majority of votes, was declared elected.
Mr. MacNevin will be joined on the Milk Board by John Van Ekris and Kent MacDonald who were elected by acclamation to represent the Charlottetown and Souris districts respectively.
The Prince Edward Island Milk Board consists of nine members, with eight members representing the milk sector and one member representing the cream sector. Members are elected on a staggered basis to three-year terms so that, in each year, three Board positions are up for election.
