January 28, 2009 * Agriculture and Forestry [to May 2015]Information sessions for grains and oilseed producers are being held next week in Charlottetown on the outlook for markets in 2009. The sessions will feature John DePutter, a respected commodity analyst and market advisor, who will provide his perspective on how producers can gain an edge on markets during volatile times. On Tuesday evening of February 3, DePutter will outline the latest economic trends in world markets and what they mean for Canadian producers. He will also discuss non-agricultural markets including crude oil, metals and currencies and how trends in these commodities will affect input costs and crop and livestock prices. The session, which begins at 7 p.m. at the Farm Centre in Charlottetown, is open to all interested producers. On Wednesday, producers can register for a day-long session at the Farm Centre during which DePutter will examine various risk management strategies and ways in which producers can make more informed decisions about the marketing of the 2009 crop. During the afternoon, a number of grains and oilseeds buyers will be making presentations on marketing opportunities during the coming year. Those interested in registering for Wednesday’s session are asked to call the Agriculture Information Desk at 1-866-734-3276.Media Contact: Daniel Murphy
