Maritime Electric is a proud sponsor of the 2001 PEI Canada Games Team which will travel to London, Ontario, August 11 to 25.
The Honourable Gail A. Shea, Minister Responsible for Recreation and Sport, accepted a check for $15,000 from Maritime Electric at the Fortis Shareholders Information Meeting in June. The donation from the Island company will be used to purchase walk-out dress for the 275 athletes, manager, coaches and mission staff travelling to the games.
"I would like to thank Maritime Electric and its shareholders for their continued support of PEI sporting organizations and, in particular, Team PEI and the Canada Games," said Minister Shea. I would like to commend Maritime Electric on its continued commitment to helping young athletes in Prince Edward Island.
The Canada Games have been a showcase of amateur sport since 1967. This August, hundreds of athletes, coaches and managers representing PEI will have the opportunity to experience this great multi-sport event and meet other athletes from every province and territory in Canada.
