The Prince Edward Island Department of Transportation and Public Works will begin work on two projects next week that will improve safety at several intersections in Queens County.
The first project will see upgrades to the intersection of Route 19 and the Nine Mile Creek Road. That intersection will be re-aligned at right angles, and dedicated left turn lanes will be added. A public meeting for that project will take place from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, September 26 at the Afton Community Hall in New Dominion.
The second project will involve major safety improvements to several intersections on Route 2 in Winsloe. That project will see the Winsloe Road closed to all but right-turn-in traffic off Route Two, the addition of a west bound, left-turn lane on Melody Lane, the re-alignment of the Campbell Road to meet Route 2 at right angles, and the addition of left-turn lanes and signals at the new Campbell Road - Route 2 intersection. A public meeting for that project will be held from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, September 26 in the Library Room at the Holiday Inn Express on the Trans Canada Highway in West Royalty.
