Love that lobster and love those kilts too! The College of Piping, New Glasgow Lobster Supper and Fisherman's Wharf Lobster Supper, in cooperation with the Department of Fisheries and Tourism and Enterprise PEI, have created a new venture for the long weekend in May to entice visitors and Islanders alike to get out and enjoy some delicious seafood, fun golf, great music and enjoy spring in Prince Edward Island.
The event which runs May 22-23 provides participants with an opportunity to enjoy some firsts ... a first feed of lobster and a first game of golf for 1999. In addition to the early feeds of lobster and some great entertainment, everyone will have a chance to take part in a "Kilted" Golf Tournament at the Summerside Golf Club, commencing at 1:00 in the afternoon, May 22. If you don't have a kilt hanging in the closet, get your hands on a wee bit of tartan and be sure to wear it proudly! The tournament ticket ($100.00 per person or $300.00 per team) allows you a game of golf, prizes, a shirt, a lobster dinner and a concert. A full day of fun and feast.
The Honourable Kevin J. MacAdam, Minister of Fisheries and Tourism, noted "it sounds like a great weekend. Prince Edward Island is absolutely beautiful at this time of the year, the lobster is succulent and our golf courses are in great shape. I am sure that there will be lots of laughter and some very satisfied diners this weekend." He also added, "I do hope that the wind doesn't gust too much out on the greens though -- especially for those unaccustomed to kilts!"
Three venues will be offering a delectable lobster dinner: the College of Piping, New Glasgow and Fisherman's Wharf. Later in the day, the College of Piping will provide a Ceilidh under the dome with Sons of Maxwell at 7:00 p.m.
