Islander Lorie Kane will challenge Nancy Lopez, Si Re Pak and Annika Sörenstam at the Lorie Kane Island Challenge, presented by Tourism PEI, being held August 29 and 30 at the Brudenell River Golf Course, Prince Edward Island.
Tickets for this year's event will go on sale Saturday, March 18, 2000, beginning at 10:00 a.m. (EST) and can be purchased by telephone through TicketMaster at 1-888-222-6608 or via the internet at www.ticketmaster.ca. The tickets will be available at a cost of $90 each (plus service charge and applicable taxes). The two-day pass includes admission to: the first nine holes of the Challenge on Tuesday, August 29; and the second nine holes on Wednesday, August 30. Ticket sales are limited to four tickets per order.
The announcement was made at a Prince Edward Island Seafood and Hospitality reception held by Golf Prince Edward Island at Rodney's Oyster House in Toronto. Frank Butler, Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Tourism, launched the ticket sales. "People have been very anxious to get their hands on some tickets for this event and we are looking forward to some very brisk sales come March 18," noted Mr. Butler. "Our province welcomes this prestigious golf event and the opportunity for the people of PEI to highlight our world class golf product and hospitality."
The Lorie Kane Island Challenge features a prize of $225,000. The two days of Skins play will be broadcast nationally on The Sports Network (TSN) in the fall of 2000. Confirmed event sponsors include Rodd Hotels & Resorts, Moosehead Breweries, Island Tel and their parent company Aliant, Royal Bank Visa, and Snapple.
