On Line Support Expands Into Montague

After having surveyed the labour market throughout Atlantic Canada, On Line Support Inc. (OLS), an Internet technology customer support service provider, announced today it will open a new contact centre in Montague, Prince Edward Island.

The Honourable Pat Binns, Premier of Prince Edward Island, the Honourable Mike Currie, Minister of Development and Technology, and District 4 MLA Jim Bagnall, joined OLS Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer, Kent MacPhee, at today's announcement.

The centre will be located in the Brook Street Plaza in Montague and is expected to be open in early September.

"The company continues to grow and we need more space and more employees," said MacPhee. "We are very excited to be going to Montague. We have a number of key employees from Kings County and we have a lot of confidence in the area."

"It is very rewarding to see that after having surveyed the region, On Line Support has chosen the Montague area. Business and community leaders should take pride as this has become an obvious area of growth and opportunity," said Premier Binns.

Minister Currie noted On Line Support is a reputable company that has shown steady growth since beginning in 1997.

"They serve customers across North America and serve two of the largest telephone companies in the country. We are very pleased to see the creation of over 100 full time year round jobs in Kings County."

The company expects their new centre will begin with 40 positions, and will grow to 125 within the first year of operation.

Formed in January 1997, On Line Support currently employs over 400 people at its centres in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Kentville, Nova Scotia.

The Government of Prince Edward Island will contribute $200,000 towards the project, through Technology PEI Inc.

Technology PEI Inc. is the province's lead agency in the development, adoption and use of information technologies in business and community in Prince Edward Island.
