Kings County Memorial Hospital lifting visitor restrictions, precautions remain in place

Kings County Memorial Hospital (KCMH) is lifting visitor restrictions today as the majority of patients who were ill are recovering from the gastrointestinal illness-like symptoms they had been experiencing over the last week.

While hospital officials are confident the gastrointestinal virus has run its course, they are reminding anyone coming into the hospital, including visitors and persons coming in for tests, x-rays or ambulatory procedures, to clean their hands before and after entering a patient’s room, a department, and upon entering and leaving the facility. Alcohol hand rinse stations are available throughout the building for this purpose. Hand washing is one of the best ways to stop the spread of germs and illnesses.

Hospital officials thank staff, patients and the public for their understanding and cooperation this week.
