Islanders Named To Historica Advisory Council

Four Islanders were recently chosen to serve on the newly created advisory council of the Historica Foundation of Canada. The Honourable Gilbert R. Clements, Lieutenant Governor; Mr. Wade MacLauchlan, President of the University of Prince Edward Island; Mr. Kevin MacNeil, President and Co-founder of the Canada Tree project and Mr. John Boylan, Heritage Coordinator with the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs will work with volunteers from across Canada to provide advice and guidance to the Foundation's staff and board of directors.

Historica's advisory council is made up of educators, heritage professionals and innovative technology leaders from across the country. Acting as the main policy arm of the Foundation, council members will advise on the effective delivery of Historica's programs, promote regional networking and infrastructure and aid in fundraising efforts.

The Historica Foundation of Canada (Historica) is a new charitable foundation dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of Canadian history and its importance in shaping the future. Through its website, www.histori.ca, and the support of interactive, leading edge programs, Historica aims to bring Canadian history to life and become the central reference for historical Canadian information and resources.
