Islanders can participate in Health PEI meeting online, at three other sites

Islanders can take part in the second Health PEI Annual General Meeting on November 14 without attending in person, says Health PEI Board Chair Leo Steven.

“Health PEI is working to become One Island Health System that serves all Islanders, and that is also what we are trying to do with our annual general meetings,” Steven said. “This year we have added sites in the western and eastern parts of our province where Islanders can go to participate in the meeting in their own communities.”

While the meeting itself takes place at Charlottetown’s Murchison Centre (15-17 St. Pius X Ave.) at 6:30 p.m., November 14, Islanders can watch and submit questions electronically from:

• Western Hospital (Boardroom) in Alberton;

• Prince County Hospital (St. Lawrence Room) in Summerside; and

• Kings County Memorial Hospital (Third Floor Boardroom) in Montague.

Anyone can also follow the proceedings on the web at www.healthpei.ca/annualmeeting and submit questions via online chat.

“We are again fortunate to have attracted a keynote speaker who is a respected authority on health care issues nationally,” Steven said. “Dr. G. Ross Baker, PhD, is an expert on patient safety and continuous quality improvement issues who fits in perfectly with our meeting theme of Safe, Quality Health Care in Tight Financial Times.”

Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie will provide welcome remarks, Steven and Health PEI Interim CEO Dr. Richard Wedge will provide updates, and there will be a financial report and a moderated panel discussion. On-site interpretation services will be available in French.
