The Island Today - Province Adds New Webpage

* Development and Technology [to Apr 2008]
The Province of P.E.I. has a new addition to it's website. It's called The Island Today. The new page provides "one stop shopping" for timely, useful information about Prince Edward Island. It includes sunrise and sunset times, the current moon phase, weather conditions and forecasts, Government news releases, and much more.

The P.E.I. Museum and Heritage Foundation provides information on 'Today in Island History, a 'Bird of the Day' is selected using information from the Department of Technology and Environment, and a "Community of the Day" is highlighted.

The page is updated a number of times through the day.

"We are very pleased to have added a page to our website that provides a daily snapshot of Prince Edward Island," said Development Minister Don MacKinnon. "The page provides useful information, both for Islanders and for people in other parts of the world who may have an interest in the Island."

The page will also recognize Islanders who reach milestone birthdays or anniversaries.

The Island Today also provides pointers to the websites of local media such as The Guardian and the local CBC news to help Internet users stay up to date on local events.

Visitors to The Island Today can customize the page to suit their individual preferences. They choose which information they would like included on their custom page, and how they would like it arranged. Visit www.gov.pe.ca to check out The Island Today page.
