November 7, 2011 A workshop for fruit producers will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at the BIO|FOOD|TECH facility (formerly the Food Technology Centre) located at the Belvedere entrance of the UPEI campus. The workshop will feature presentations by Chris Jordan, Berry Crop Development Officer/Provincial Apiarist of the Prince Edward Island Department of Agriculture; Yaw Dako, Food Safety/Quality Specialist at BIO|FOOD|TECH; and Esther Lee, a Food Scientist with BIO|FOOD|TECH. Topics include the steps involved in the fruit drying process, quality assurance practices, an overview of the regulations involved in preparing a dried product for sale and a step-by-step training session covering all aspects of the fruit drying process. The November 8 workshop is fully booked. A second workshop is planned for December 8, 2011.
