Hillsborough Hospital satellite buildings emptied; slated for demolition

Files previously stored in a building located near the Hillsborough Hospital have been moved to a new location in a safe and secure manner, says Minister of Health and Wellness Doug Currie.

“The files that had been stored in this location were non-active medical files as well as outdated hospital administration records,” said Minister Currie. “Islanders can be assured that the confidentiality of their private health files was not compromised.”

Health PEI has been in contact with both the Privacy Commissioner and the Provincial Archivist to ensure proper procedures were followed during the removal or destruction of these files. All files which have been destroyed either exceeded their scheduled date for routine destruction or are duplicates.

The buildings will be demolished in an appropriate and timely manner.
