Health Care Sector Study Into Workplace Accidents And Injury Prevention Initiatives

The PEI health care sector is the focus of a new study by the Health and Safety Division of the Workers Compensation Board. Approval for this six-month study was recently announced by the Board of Directors and began February 1 of this year.

The primary focus of this study is to investigate areas within the health care sector that are experiencing increased claim costs. George Stewart, Director of the Occupational Health and Safety Division, announced that Jude Driscoll has been selected to conduct this survey. Ms. Driscoll has a number of years experience in the health care sector as a Community Based Occupational Therapist. The results of the study will be developed into a report which will provide a model for injury prevention within the Health Care Sector.
