Health and Wellness
Hon. Carolyn Bertram, Minister of Health and Wellness, recently announced that Grant Hardy, Gerry Fougere, Kenneth Ramsay, and Kelly Williams, are the recipients of Government’s paramedic bursary program.

Each of these four paramedics, enrolled in the Advanced Care Paramedic program at Holland College, will receive $6,000 to expand their training and certification level.

“As Minister of Health and Wellness, I am pleased to support these paramedics as they enhance their training,” says Minister Bertram. “Government recognizes the invaluable work of paramedics and the critical role they play in patient safety and protecting the health of Islanders. We are very pleased to provide funding to them as they advance their education and skills.”

Government has invested $24,000 to assist primary and intermediate care level paramedics who are enrolled in the advanced care paramedic training program at Holland College. This program provides students with advanced training to broaden their scope of practice in areas such as life support and critical assessment and treatment.

The bursary program was established in collaboration with provincial government, the emergency medical services board, the Paramedic Association of Prince Edward Island and Holland College.

The emergency medical services board was responsible for the process and selection of the bursary award winners from the list of eligible applicants.
