The Prince Edward Island Grain Elevators Corporation still has some pool storage space available for the coming season. The President of the Corporation, Allan Ling, says that close to half the available space is already booked, and he is encouraging producers to discuss their requirements with their local elevators before the end of June.
Once space is booked, the Corporation guarantees storage to producers.
"The Corporation has experienced one of its best years ever," said Mr. Ling. "We expect that prices will remain strong for the coming season as well, and with our pooling system, producers can benefit from any further gains throughout the marketing year."
Last year, producers who were part of the pool were able to benefit from advancing grain and oilseed prices. They will receive higher final payments than originally forecast.
The Grain Elevators Corporation offers custom cleaning, drying, roasting and extrusion services. It is the largest grain and oilseeds operation in the province.
