Garfield Street now Closed at Riverside Drive

Beginning today, Garfield Street in Charlottetown is closed to traffic at Riverside Drive. The planned closure comes as crews work to complete the expansion and re-alignment of the Charlottetown Perimeter Highway. Two new dual-lane roundabouts are being built and the highway is being expanded to four lanes from Murchison Drive to Park Street.

As part of the work, Walker Drive was re-aligned. It now connects to Riverside Drive at one of the two new roundabouts. Vehicles destined for Garfield Street from Riverside Drive must now to exit the roundabout at Walker Drive. While construction is ongoing, that roundabout will operate as a single-lane roundabout. Once construction is complete, both roundabouts will operate as dual-lane roundabouts.
