* Community and Cultural Affairs [to Jun 2007]
The Honourable Elmer MacFadyen, Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs, recently presented a cheque for $100,000 to Benoit Henri representing the Carrefour de l'Isle-Saint-Jean.

The Carrefour is one of five centres in the province which help assure French language education and cultural language support for those who have a right to French schooling in Prince Edward Island. This is the final disbursement for the Carrefour, which received a total of $200,000 for 2002-2003.

"This initiative has brought many benefits to the community," says the Honourable Elmer MacFadyen, Minister of Community and Cultural Affairs. "The Carrefour has done a tremendous job of working to advance French language programming in the Acadian and Francohone community of Charlottetown."

The Carrefour receives funding under this agreement which permits them to contribute to the development and enhancement of the Acadian and Francophone community. This is one of the objectives of the Canada /PEI General Agreement on the Promotion of Official Languages.
