The first Premier's Award for Information Technologies was presented to PEI Innovations Inc at the Information Technology Week 2000 Gala Dinner last evening at the Delta Prince Edward Hotel in Charlottetown.
"At the forefront of the new millennium, an age of technology, it seems fitting to launch the first Premier's Award for Information Technologies at IT Week 2000," commented Honourable Pat Binns, Premier of Prince Edward Island, by video. "This award will be presented annually and is intended to recognize and celebrate the leadership qualities and innovation of an individual or organization who has helped move the industry forward, inspiring others to take steps to do the same."
Privately-owned, PEI Innovations Inc is a high-tech company located in Dundas, Prince Edward Island with Wayd McNally and Tom Haan as company principals. PEI Innovations Inc provides products and services to leaders in the brewing, distilling, soft drinks, food processing, agricultural and transportation industries. To date, the company has launched the Smart Spud™, the Smart Bottle™ and the Produce Wizard™.
The Smart Line™ of products represents a new technology designed to register and process, in real time, shock, pressure and temperature-related data in a variety of applications; the Smart Spud™ and the Produce Wizard™ for the agricultural industry; and the Smart Bottle™ for the packing industry.
