Applications for the final round of funding for IT Generation projects are now being accepted. To date, twenty youth computer clubs have been established in different communities across the Island with IT Generation funding.
The IT Generation program was developed to work with interested communities to help young people spread information about issues of interest to them through the use of technology. Organizations interested in receiving a grant up to $2300 to provide information technology tools to their youth are invited to participate.
A provincial IT Generation web site has been produced listing participating clubs, a brief description of the organization's missions, and more information on the program itself. The web site can be found at http://tigcap.peicaps.org/itgeneration.
Grants will be provided to 10 community youth groups to assist them in the purchase of hardware, software or other equipment. Criteria for participants applying include a person or group responsible for club, the presence of a strong board of directors, location where youth will gather to do activities and exchange ideas, and easy community access.
In the third round of funding three youth organizations received grants. They are: The Morell Bits and Bytes IT Club, Grand Tracadie's Fish Friends On Line, and Stella Maris Triple C Club. All youth community groups interested in forming their own computer club are encourage to apply. Deadline for applications is Friday, March 30, 2001.
