January 15, 2009 * Agriculture and Forestry [to May 2015]Those Islanders with a special interest in the work of the local international-development NGO Farmers Helping Farmers are invited to a special orientation and information session, to be held this Saturday morning, as part of the organization’s semi-annual meeting. The location is the basement meeting room in St. Peter’s Church Hall, All Souls’ Lane (off Rochford St.), Charlottetown from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Farmers Helping Farmers was begun by Island farmers more than 30 years ago. It maintains an ambitious and highly successful program of community-based projects, primarily in support of small-scale women farmers in Kenya. Anyone with an interest in the work of Farmers Helping Farmers is encouraged to become a member and assist directly in the work. Those attending Saturday's information session are invited to join the members for lunch, served by Makenna Ambassa, and the afternoon’s semi-annual meeting.
