The tourism industry in Prince Edward Island doesn't seem to have heard the rumour that "Summer's over after Old Home Week." This year events continue into September, businesses will be staying open and marketing efforts are promoting the virtues of a fall vacation on the Island.
First among the promotion tools is a booklet listing an impressive 900 businesses that are open until at least the end of September. The "Summer is only part of our story" publication will be included in all vacation planning kits as well as distributed to Visitor Information Centres across the Island. Copies have also been sent to local operators in the province and all are encouraged to share the information with their visitors to ensure they are well-informed on the multitude of activities to choose from.
"The latest publication is only one element of a very strategic effort to extend the tourism season in Prince Edward Island," said Kevin MacAdam, Minister of Fisheries and Tourism. "Many of our Visitor Information Centres will stay open until mid to late October, we are mounting a fall advertising campaign, and households in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick will receive a special fall publication in mid-August."
The "Summer is only part of our story..." promotional brochure was co-published by the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island and Tourism PEI. For copies of the booklet or the new "Come Play this Fall" publication, contact Tourism PEI.
