Enhancements to electronic health record at Prince County Hospital begin June 1

On Saturday, June 1, the Prince County Hospital in Summerside will implement a new electronic process to order diagnostic tests, order and chart medications, and enter patient-care instructions that will further enhance the province’s electronic health records system.

This new electronic ordering process – called CPOE (Computerized Provider Order Entry) – will impact services across Prince County Hospital, including the emergency department. The public is asked to be patient with physicians and staff as they adapt to this new procedure.

To further support Prince County Hospital and all area residents requiring non-urgent medical care, Harbourside Health Centre will operate with extended hours of service as follows:

• June 1 and 2: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• June 3 to 5: 6 to 9 p.m.

• June 6: 7 to 9p.m.

• June 8 and 9: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

For non-urgent care, Islanders are encouraged to visit their family physician’s office or a walk-in clinic. Locations and hours are available at www.healthpei.ca/walkinclinics.
