The writ was issued on September 17, 2007 for a by-election within District No. 4 Belfast-Murray River to be held on Monday, October 15, 2007 to elect a member to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island.
There will not be a confirmation of electors as per section 31 of the Election Act. The data collected for the May 28, 2007 Provincial General Election will be implemented, along with voter registration updates. If you were not confirmed for the May 28, 2007 Provincial General Election, please contact the Returning Officer, Shirley Allen at 962-3381, to ensure you are on the Official List of Electors.
Should it happen that an eligible elector was missed during the May 28, 2007 confirmation process, he or she will still be able to get his or her name on the Official List of Electors by registering with the Returning Officer for District No. 4 Belfast-Murray River. Four days have been set aside for the registration of any eligible elector who might have been missed during the confirmation. Registration will begin on Friday, 28 September, 2007 and will end on Tuesday, 2 October, 2007.

Elections PEI will be mailing Election Information Cards to each civic address within District No. 4 Belfast-Murray River. The Election Information Cards will be addressed to the occupant(s) at each civic address. These cards are intended to notify all qualified elector(s) residing at the civic address of specific information concerning the by-election: (1) Two full-day Advance Polls days, stating the dates and hours the polls are open and where the advance polls are located; (2) Election Day Polls, stating the date and hours the polls are open, the poll numbers and names and the voting locations; and (3) Returning Officer contact information, civic address and phone number.
To be eligible to vote in the October 15, 2007 by-election, a person must be: (1) 18 years of age on or before Election Day; (2) a Canadian citizen; (3) a resident in Prince Edward Island for at least six months prior to the date of the writ (March 17); and (4) a resident of District No. 4 Belfast-Murray River on the day the by-election was called (September 17, 2007).
