By-Election to be Held November 23 in the Eastern School District

A by-election will be held November 23 to fill the trustee vacancy in Zone 1 of the Eastern School District, says Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Gerard Greenan.

“School trustees make a very meaningful contribution to our education system,” said Minister Greenan. “I encourage interested citizens to run as a candidate or encourage someone to put their name forward, and to get out and vote on November 23.”

The election is being held to fill a vacancy created in Zone 1 by the resignation of Anne Miller. Students in Zone 1 attend Souris Consolidated, Souris Regional High and Morell Regional High School.

The School Act states that a by-election must be held to fill a school board vacancy if the vacancy occurs within two years of the trustee’s term in office.
