Dr. Daniel Costa has accepted a position for a three-year term in urology beginning in July, says Health and Wellness Minister Doug Currie.
“Dr. Costa is from Summerside, and throughout his medical education and residency training he maintained contact with the Office of Recruitment and Retention,” said the minister. “He completed a number of clinical rotations during his training in Prince Edward Island, as he has had a strong interest in returning to practice here.”
Dr. Costa completed his Doctor of Medicine at Memorial University and is currently completing his residency training at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Costa will relocate to Prince Edward Island this summer with his wife Nancy and their daughter Hannah.
“Having grown up in Summerside, I have always aspired to return home to provide care to Islanders. I am excited to become a member of the urology team beginning this summer and look forward to contributing to the excellent urologic care currently offered on the Island,” said Dr. Costa. “I believe that this collaboration, combined with my training in minimally invasive surgery, will allow a greater number of patients to receive their urologic care in Prince Edward Island.”
“Dr. Costa will be a tremendous addition to the urology program, offering a full scope of urologic care and services for Islanders,” said Dr. Tom Dorran, Medical Director at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. “We are very pleased that he has made the decision to return to Prince Edward Island to practice upon completion of his training.”
