The Honourable Kevin J. MacAdam, Minister of Fisheries and Tourism announced the appointment of Greg Arsenault as Director of Tourism Marketing for Tourism PEI. As director, Mr. Arsenault will be responsible for the development and execution of all marketing activities that are established through annual marketing and operational plans. Mr. Arsenault will also be responsible for the Sales and Trade Unit including the development, execution and evaluation of annual travel trade strategies.
"Mr. Arsenault has a comprehensive knowledge of the tourism sector and will bring experience, skills and contacts to Tourism PEI that will be invaluable. He will be a significant addition to the Tourism PEI team and the industry as a whole," said Minister MacAdam.
Mr. Arsenault has an extensive background in tourism marketing which has encompassed both private and public sectors as well as a degree in arts, hospitality and tourism management. He returns to Prince Edward Island from Pulse Marketing in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he held the position of Account Manager for the past year. In his previous position as Manager of Advertising and Promotions with Tourism PEI, Greg was responsible for the management of the tourism advertising campaign. He was the key advisor to the Director of Marketing on all issues relating to advertising, promotions and public relations.
Mr. Arsenault indicated that he is confident that the strong ties between government, the industry and the Tourism Marketing Authority will continue and grow. He noted, "I am extremely pleased and honoured to be coming home to work again with Tourism PEI. I have many friends and colleagues in the industry and I'm looking forward to working with them to market our unique province as a vacation destination."
Mel Gass, President of the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island noted, "Tourism is such an important part of the Island economy and I am very pleased to hear that this key position has been filled. Mr. Arsenault's reputation precedes him within the industry, and I look forward to working together with him and his staff."
Mr. Arsenault will be joining the staff of Tourism PEI effective mid-January 1999.
