A new weekly half-hour television program is being produced by the Prince Edward Island Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Called "Focus on Resources," it will feature the province’s primary industries of agriculture, fisheries, aquaculture and forestry.
The program will be broadcast on Tuesday evenings at 8:00 p.m. on Cable 10 in Charlottetown, Cable 7 in Summerside and over the Country Cable channels. The first program will air this Tuesday evening.
"This program is part of the department’s commitment to improve communications to and among its clients and the public," said Rory Francis, deputy minister of the department. "The program is aimed at providing information about developments, opportunities, trends and issues affecting the province’s three primary resource industries, and how our products are produced, processed and marketed."
Mr. Francis said that critical issues such as major changes in the marketplace, new technologies, environmental concerns and limitations on public funds mean greater efforts have to be made to improve communications about these issues.
"Perhaps more than ever before, knowledge is a key to remaining competitive," he said.
The new program is being produced by the department and is a presentation of the cable stations.
