Damage to Darnley Bridge Results in Temporary Closure

Until further notice, the Darnley Bridge, on Route 20 in Darnley will be closed to all traffic. The closure is necessary to repair damage to timber beams that support the bridge deck. Crews from the Department are on site assessing the damage, but the cause is unknown at this time. The damage was identified early this afternoon by a Department employee.

Officials with the Department expect repairs to take approximately two weeks. Until the structure re-opens, traffic heading north on Route 20 will be re-routed onto Route 103 to Sea View.
