CSA & Black & Decker Announce Voluntary Recall Horizontal Toasters

In cooperation with the Canadian Standards Association(CSA), Black & Decker Household Products is announcing a voluntary recall of its T1000-04 Type 1 Horizontal Toasters. The T1000-04 Type 1 Horizontal Toaster has an automatic door that opens when the toast cycle is complete, and has a rack containing the food that extends beyond the open door. If a food fire is already underway in the T1000-04 Type 1 Horizontal Toaster and the door opens, flames from the food fire may exit the unit and come in proximity with the cabinet door.

Only Black & Decker T1000-04 Type 1 Horizontal Toasters with date codes of 405 through 504 are subject to this recall. The three digit date code is found on the outside of the plug prong. The T1000-04 Type 1 Horizontal Toaster has a switch that says "open" on the front which distinguishes it from other versions of the product.

Consumers should unplug the T1000-04 Type 1 Horizontal Toaster, cut the plug off the toaster, and return the plug to: Black & Decker T1000-04 Type 1 Horizontal Toaster Recall, 6 Armstrong Road, Shelton, CT USA 06484. Black & Decker will provide those consumers with a catalogue and a $64.00 coupon toward the purchase of another Black & Decker household appliance from the catalogue.
