The province of Prince Edward Island will officially recognize Provincial Crime Prevention Week 2001, November 1-7. This week is an acknowledgement that preventing crime improves the quality of life for all Islanders and that community safety is everyone's responsibility.
"This week is our opportunity to recognize those individuals and groups who work to ensure their communities are safe and crime free and to look for increased ways to empower others to help," says Jeffrey E. Lantz, Attorney General. "While Crime Prevention Week 2001 is a celebration of what has been achieved, the challenge is for all of us to get involved every day in whatever way we can."
Many activities are scheduled during the week to celebrate the accomplishments of individuals and groups who work toward safe and healthy communities through crime prevention. Please see the schedule of events listed below.
For more information on these and other activities associated with Crime Prevention Week or year-round activities in your community, please contact the Prince Edward Island Crime Prevention Association, 626-3539.
