The Guardian article of May 15, 2001, which advised that government was not planning to hold an open public meeting for residents interested in the property which has formerly been leased to the Native Council of Prince Edward Island, is incorrect. Government will be conducting an open public meeting related to the continued use of this property, following consultation meetings being held later this week.
The advertised consultation interviews, to be held at the Access PEI Centre in Montague by Bill Buell, have been arranged due to requests from individuals and organizations to directly discuss with government their interest related to the property.
The planned consultations will provide an opportunity for interested parties to obtain information or to advise government of their views on the issue. These discussions may help to provide options which could enhance a decision for the future use of the property.
Information from the upcoming consultations will be additional to information provided to government by the community appointed committee. Following the consultations, the community committee will be apprised by government of the information collected during this process.
Consultation interviews are scheduled for May 17 and 18 at the Access PEI Centre in Montague. Please call 838-0600 for an appointment.
