Cornwall Fire Ruled Accidental

The house fire that claimed the life of Cornwall resident Harry Elmer Power has been ruled accidental by the Provincial Fire Marshal’s Office. Fire Marshal David Blacquiere says the fire resulted when loose combustible material was ignited by radiated heat generated by the compressor unit of the kitchen refrigerator.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding Islanders that household refrigeration units should have the cavity around the compressor cleaned regularly.
