Confederation Trail Maintenance Advisory

* Transportation and Public Works [to Jan 2010]
The Department of Transportation and Public Works today issued an advisory about upcoming maintenance work along a section of the Confederation Trail.

Beginning August 15 and running through until September 3, a section of the Confederation Trail from the Montague Train Station to Shaw’s Lane will be closed for maintenance work and upgrade. This temporary closure will allow Department staff to conduct necessary maintenance work to this section of trail. Work will include replacement of a concrete box structure and related upgrades. The section affected is approximately 1.7 kilometers in length.

“The Confederation Trail is increasingly becoming a centre of activity in communities across the Island,” said Transportation and Public Works Minister Gail Shea. “From time to time we need to do some necessary maintenance and upgrade work to ensure a quality trail for the continued enjoyment of Islanders and tourists.”

Shea noted that work in the affected section of the Confederation Trail will take place in stages and that alternate routes for Trail users will be posted during the work period to minimize inconvenience to the traveling public. Shea also thanked the public on behalf of the Department for their cooperation.
