Condolences to the family of Erskine Smith

The following statement was released by Tourism and Culture Minister Robert Henderson:

“On behalf of the Prince Edward Island government, I extend my sincere condolences to the family of Erskine Smith.

“A true leader in the Island theatre community, Erskine Smith’s dedication to his profession and community enriched our Island’s cultural sector while delighting audiences from all over.

“As artistic director of the Victoria Playhouse, he established the theatre as a thriving cultural institution that attracts thousands of tourists to the small historic village of Victoria-by-the-Sea. On stage, he was an engaging storyteller and actor, inspiring and entertaining audiences.

“He will be remembered for his many contributions to the cultural, economic and social growth of our province.”
