The Honourable Don MacKinnon, Minister of Development for the Province of PEI, today announced that the Province once again has established a comprehensive Christmas page at its award winning web site www.gov.pe.ca.
Minister MacKinnon noted, "We are very pleased to provide Internet users from around the world with the ability to send Christmas cards that include original PEI animations as well as beautiful pictures of PEI. We also provide recipes from the Charlottetown Guardian cookbook that provide a taste of the Island's diverse food products. Christmas well wishers can print PEI calendars, down load a Christmas screen saver, look up the words to more than 200 carols and send letters to Santa."
The Minister confirmed the web site has organized another Christmas Feast contest this year. "The winner of the contest will receive a feast for four containing quality, Prince Edward Island brand products including potatoes, vegetables, mussels, oysters, lobsters as well as wine. Buy...PEI, a project of the Women's Institute, has also contributed one of their Christmas baskets containing Island products and the PEI Crafts Council has contributed Island made place mats. We will ship the prize before Christmas so the winner can benefit from PEI's unique food products throughout the festive season."
Minister MacKinnon confirmed that as a result of the great success of last year's Christmas Feast contest, the web site added a new contest this year called the Twelve Draws of Christmas. "We have worked with Tourism PEI, Gateway Village and Transportation and Public Works to provide 12 items for draws on Monday and Thursday through to Christmas. Also, the Anne of Green Gables Licensing Authority has donated an Anne doll that will be given to the lucky contest winner."
"I invite all Islanders and Internet users to visit our Christmas site and enter our Christmas Feast and Twelve Draws of Christmas contests to win some tremendous PEI products," says Minister MacKinnon.
