Honourable Don MacKinnon, Minister of Development, announced the winner of the Christmas feast contest held at the Province's web site. Minister MacKinnon said "we are very pleased to announce that Richard Bisson and his family from Arnprior, Ontario, are the lucky winners of the Government of Prince Edward Island's Christmas feast contest. The winners receive a feast for four of PEI products including potatoes, turnips, carrots, lobster, mussels, oysters as well as plum pudding. Wine, place mats (courtesy of the PEI Crafts Council) and a Buy PEI basket (courtesy of Buy PEI) are also provided to the contest winner."
"It truly is a small world. The spouse of the winner of the Christmas feast contest is originally from St. Eleanors, Prince Edward Island. Her parents, Tanton and Monica McNeill, still live in St. Eleanors. When our staff called to inform them of their win, they were delighted to have won the taste of PEI for Christmas," Minister MacKinnon noted.
The Christmas feast contest has been a very popular addition to the Province's web site attracting over 16,000 entries in the first two contests.
"There are still some contests remaining at the web site in the Twelve Draws of Christmas. I would encourage all Islanders to visit the Province's web site at www.gov.pe.ca to check out the many features of our Christmas pages including our recipes, Christmas list maker, Christmas carols and of course the always popular electronic greeting card," Minister MacKinnon concluded.
