Premier Pat Binns today announced the following changes to the Senior Management Team in government. "As we move forward in this mandate it is appropriate to make some changes to the Senior Management Team who play a vital role in the administration of government services and the development and implementation of public policy."
Rory Francis is appointed Deputy Minister of Health and Social Services, replacing Carol Ann Duffy who has accepted the position of CEO of the Workers Compensation Board, replacing Philip MacDougall who is retiring.
Paul Jelley, General Manager of the Canadian Broiler Hatching Egg Marketing Agency, will join the Senior Management Team as Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Forestry. His appointment will be effective September 1, 2000.
Shauna Sullivan Curley is appointed Deputy Minister of Education, replacing Elaine Noonan who is appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Public Service Commission, replacing Jeannette MacAulay who is appointed Deputy Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, replacing Leo Walsh who has accepted a secondment to the position of Secretary to the Council of Maritime Premiers.
Lewie Creed is appointed Deputy Minister of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Environment, replacing Bill Drost who becomes the province's Chief Information Officer.
Patrick Dorsey has been named Executive Assistant and Senior Policy Advisor to the Premier, replacing Maurice Rodgerson who joins the staff of the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.

Peter McQuaid, Deputy Minister / Chief of Staff to the Premier.
Premier Binns stated, "To those who are retiring from the public service, I express appreciation for their years of dedicated service to Islanders. To those accepting new responsibilities, I thank them for their interest and commitment to the public service."
