Challenge Sales Brisk

* Fisheries and Tourism [to May 2000]
The Lorie Kane Island Challenge attracted a lot of attention on the first day of sales. Over 1,000 tickets were sold in the first 45 minutes with calls coming in from all over Canada and the eastern United States. Fisheries and Tourism Minister Kevin J. MacAdam said that ticket and sponsorship goals for the event have been achieved and that the event will be a huge success.

TicketMaster indicated that there was a flood of callers when the tickets went on sale Saturday. As a consequence, some people may not have been able to place their order and may have become discouraged.

Organizers for the Lorie Kane Island Challenge advise that there are a limited number of tickets still available for the tournament scheduled for August 29 and 30 at the Brudenell golf course.

The Minister indicated that there are more tickets available to the general public for the Lorie Kane Island Challenge than there were for the 1998 Skins Game. "We wanted to give as many fans as possible a chance to see these great L.P.G.A. stars play," said Mr. MacAdam. Tickets for the Lorie Kane Island Challenge are available through TicketMaster at 1-888-222-6608 or through the internet www.ticketmaster.ca. Anyone interested in purchasing tickets for the two-day event should take advantage now, while they are still available.
