Carrie Ann Gallant Appointed to La Commission scolaire de langue française.

* Education and Early Childhood Development [to May 2015]
Carrie Ann Gallant of Alberton has been appointed to la Commission scolaire de langue française.

The appointment was made recently to fill a vacant position on the French Language School Board. There were no candidates nominated to run for this position in the recent school board elections.

Ms. Gallant is the parent of three children who attend the new Pierre-Chiaisson School in DeBlois. She has a keen interest in advancing the quality of education in Prince Edward Island as well as opportunities to study in the French language. “I believe that children are our future and they need a good education to prepare for the years ahead. “I look forward to being part of a team that can make a difference in the lives of our youth,” said Ms. Gallant.

Minister Greenan welcomed Ms. Gallant to the board and wished her well in her new role. “School trustees represent communities, participate in school board decisions and contribute to student achievement through the development of good public policy,” said the minister. “I am confident that Ms. Gallant’s knowledge and experience as a parent, a bilingual federal government employee, and a strong advocate for French language education will help her to make a meaningful contribution as a school trustee.”

In the French Language School Board, a trustee must be the parent of a child in a French first language program, eligible to have a child in a French first language program, or eligible if the candidate had a child.
