ProfitLearn PEI is launching an innovative program for Island entrepreneurs and owners eager to start business on a solid footing or expand their existing operation, says Allan Campbell, Minister of Innovation and Advanced Learning.
“The provincial government is happy to support organizations that encourage entrepreneurial ideas and promote innovative programs and economic development,” said Minister Campbell. “The Business Start-Up Boot Camp will provide an excellent platform for small and medium business owners to learn about entrepreneurship in their own area.”
The boot camp is an intensive, three-day, hands-on learning event for budding entrepreneurs with a focus on operational tools and best practices when building a new company in Prince Edward Island. New business start-ups can sign up for this targeted training, which will include the basics of accounting, marketing, planning, market research and much more. The dates of the camp are from Friday June 17 to Sunday June 19.
Bill Martin, a skilled business leader, will facilitate the majority of the sessions. In addition, a panel presentation will bring together a banker, a lawyer, an accountant and two successful entrepreneurs to share their opinions and suggestions around making a successful entry into the world of business. Melody Dover, an award winning local marketing expert, will lead a working lunch session titled “Branding – WHO are you?” Participants will also have a working lunch activity focussed on business idea generation and sharing.
“ProfitLearn is encouraging anyone who is new in business to join the Business Start-Up Boot Camp,” said Marg Weeks, ProfitLearn PEI Manager. “It is a great investment in yourself and your business idea.”
The Business Start-Up Boot Camp will take place at the Rodd Royalty in Charlottetown each day from 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The cost is $199.00 plus tax per participant. To register please, contact Marg Weeks at marweeks@upei.ca or call 1-800-270-4795.
