February 2, 1999 * Fisheries and Tourism [to May 2000]The Honourable Kevin J. MacAdam, Minister of Fisheries and Tourism, announced today that the Canadian Ladies' Golf Association has chosen Prince Edward Island as the location for their National Senior Championship in the summer of 2000. "We are honoured that the Association has decided to bring this prestigious event to our Island, and I am sure that the competitors will be as pleased to play the course at Brudenell as we will be to host them. This national competition will give Islanders a chance to see some great golf." The 2000 CLGA National Senior Championship, which is comprised of 96 senior women amateur players, will be held July 31 to August 3, 2000, at Brudenell in Roseneath. Golf Links PEI will be one of the sponsors for this celebrated event and it is anticipated that there will be a very large group on hand to take in the championship. The PEI Branch of the Canadian Ladies' Golf Association has appointed Irene Spriet as Tournament Chair as the group begins organizing the event. Media Contact: Island Information Service
