Brookvale Open for Business

* Tourism [to Jan 2010]
After a bit of a slow start to the season, Brookvale will be up and running Saturday, January 1, with limited alpine runs open for skiing and snowboarding and all nordic trails snow-covered and groomed.

On Saturday, January 1, the alpine section will be open from 1:00 - 5:30 p.m. and the nordic, 9:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Due to the fact that there are limited runs available to the Alpine section, reduced rates will be available for customers while the fully-complemented nordic section will see normal rates for users.

“It’s was great to see so much snow fall and have the temperatures cooperate with snow-making conditions over the past few days,” noted Philip Brown, Minister of Tourism. “I know that there are some very anxious skiers waiting to get out into the snow and we are ready to welcome everyone at both the alpine and nordic sites.”

When the temperature drops to minus levels for sustained periods of time, the snow-making technology available at Brookvale, coupled with the dedicated staff, allows sufficient snow for activity on the slopes. Everyone working at Brookvale has been busy taking advantage of the recent snowfall and continued low temperatures to use the snow that has fallen, make more where needed, and groom as many runs as possible. The nordic trails have seen sufficient natural snowfall to allow grooming and great conditions for cross-country skiers.

Sunday and Monday, January 2 and 3, will see hours of operation for both sections from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., allowing everyone to get out and try out the new gear that arrived for Christmas. With any luck, the snow will stick around for the remainder of the winter with the hills and trails busy with winter activities.
