December 19, 2013 * Tourism and Culture [to May 2015]Skiers and snowboarders will be on the hill and on the trail weeks earlier than normal this year thanks to recent heavy snow at Brookvake, says Minister of Tourism and Culture Robert Henderson.“It’s been at least ten years since we were able to get the alpine centre at Brookvale open before Christmas,” said Minister Henderson. “So we are very pleased Mother Nature gave us an early Christmas present in the form of snow for our skiers and snowboarders. I encourage all Islanders to join us at Brookvale this weekend for some healthy outdoor fun.”At least five runs will be open at the alpine centre, and trails will be groomed for cross-country skiers.Trails will also be groomed and ready for skiers at Mill River Provincial Park on Saturday. However, rentals will not be available until December 26.For more information on lift passes, rentals and other services, visit Brookvale’s facebook page or the website at www.brookvaleskipark.com.Media Contact: Andrew Sprague
